Dear King John II,
My name is Vasco Da Gama and I am writing to you to ask you to fund my voyage next year. I am wanting to explore the Atlantic and Indian Oceans to find a sea route from Portugal to India. My goals for this expedition are to find a sea route to transport goods and spices as well as to find gold for you my king. If you fund my exploration, I will find a better sea route. I will bring gold and riches to you my king, and I will convert people over to Christianity. I know that if you fund my exploration it will be very successful because I have newer, better sailing equipment. I have a ship called the Caravel. The Caravel has triangular sails so it makes the ship easier to controll and makes it faster. Another tool I have is the astrolabe. The astrolabe helps me to determine the direction I am going. If you do fund my voyage you will not be sorry.
